Grenoside Open Show 2011
The club's annual Yorkshire Bernese show was held on Sunday April 17th at the usual venue of Grenoside Community Centre north of Sheffield. As usual (touchwood!!) the weather was very kind to us with bright sunshine outside for much of the day but then clouding over perfectly before it became too hot. Many people took the opportunity to enjoy the weather and walk their dogs in the park all through the day The usual excellent fayre was available in the kitchen thanks to hardworking Jeanette and Judy and I would like to thank Tony Granger for his help setting out the ring.
Our judge for the show was Anne Gerrard of the well known Torralbaz affix travelling down from Scotland in company with our judge for the Special Member's Awards Kate Scobie. After a day of showing Best In Show was our Best Dog Julie Fairclough's Monalou What's It All About and Reserve Best in Show was our Best Opposite Sex and Best Bitch Julie Baldwin's Fortonpark Future's Magic.

During the lunch break our usual Junior Handling competition was held, unusually this year there were only two entries and this was a family affair with the Macpherson brothers entering the ring. Keeping the peace was Mark Wakeland and the winner was 10 year old Finlay with Luke the Leonberger pushed closely by 7 year old Ross with Tynsel.
Also during the lunch break our Special Awards were held judged by Kate Scobie. I apologise to all the winners as I omitted to take any photos of them. See below for report.
Show Judge's Report from Anne Gerard
I would like to thank the committee for giving me the opportunity to judge my first club show. The sun was shining the venue was ideal and overall the dogs were well presented with excellent temperaments. I thought the quality of the puppies had improved. I would also like to thank the committee for their hospitality and the lovely lunch.
Minor Puppy Dog
1st Granger – Jaybiem Itri for Shadybower 8 month good sized male with strong head and good reach of neck, level topline, medium bone, moved ok.
Puppy Dog
1st Mair – Meadowpark Sugar Daddy 10 month male with good bone good topline and rear angulation correct tail set, up on his toes and moved well in lovely condition
Junior Dog
1st Green – Pasturegreen Trick or Treat Good sized dog, good bone, strong head with gentle expression, correct tail set Moved ok
2nd Fairclough – Monalou Shaken not Stirred Good sized boy, lovely head with good bone a little narrow at the moment, Firm topline Lovely coat excellent tail set Moved ok
Novice Dog
1st Green – Pasturegreen Trick or Treat
2nd Jefferson Meadowpark Boysown 18 month dog of good size with lovely bone good front and rear angulation, front movement a little loose at the moment correct tail set.
3rd Counsell Welshbern Aled Medium sized dog, shorter in leg and longer cast, nice head with gentle expression moved ok.

1st Sargent – Osemans Percyverance at Sargbilko 61/2 of Medium size with good bone and level topline nice head moved ok.
Graduate Dog
1st Wakeland Collansues Buildin Bridges at Bramikdel Large dog of excellent bone and strong masculine head, good rear angulation and level topline a happy dog a little unsettled on the move today.
2nd Mair & Hartley-Mair – Meadowpark Black Cougar via Meadowpark Medium size dog, medium bone good topline a little longer cast gentle expression correct tail set moved well

1st Place – Monalou Fourex Sid 22month medium sized male with lovely head good bone and nice rounded rear, correct tail set moved well.
