Edna Whenmouth

Edna being presented with her Life Membership at the Garden Party in 2004

We are sorry to bring the news that Edna Whenmouth died this week. Edna was made an honorary life member of the BMDC of GB at the AGM in 2004 in tribute to the kindness and generosity which she showed by unconditionally giving a home, over the years, to at least 8 rescued Bernese, most of whom were real oldies who would have been difficult to place. Edna unquestionably gave these dogs a place in her home and a big piece of her heart, knowing that she could be giving herself heartache. No needy dog was ever refused by Edna and I know that Ben, her last Bernese, kept Edna going for many months and only after Ben's death did Edna allow herself to go into a care home.

There are not too many people as generous of spirit as Edna and the committee of the BMDC of GB are saddened by her passing and send condolences to Edna's family.
She will be missed by us all.
