Forthcoming Events

Ok, its not a club event but the club does have an official presence at the ringside of the Bernese judging. You can renew or take out membership, ask about the club or breed and of course purchase Bernese related items from our Bernershop. This year the club will have three stands instead of our usual two and, as well as look at the 185 Bernese, entered under judge Helen Davenport Willis, members will be able to collect their latest mailing which includes the 2008 handbook.

Paid up club members will receive full details of all club events in plenty of time to enter. If you do not you should contact the Membership Secretary.

From M1 northbound: Leave at junction 35A, taking the A616 towards Manchester. Approx 1 mile from motorway come to large roundabout where the A61 and A616 cross. Take A61 towards Sheffield (Turn Left). Continue as below*.

From M1 southbound: Leave at junction 36 and take the A61 towards Sheffield (turn right). Approx 1 mile from motorway come to large roundabout where the A61 and A616 cross. Continue on the A61 towards Sheffield (Straight on). Continue as below*.

From Manchester area: Leave the M60 to pick up the M67 and then stay on the A628 towards Barnsley (not the Sheffield directions). After coming over the Woodhead pass eventually come to the Flouch crossroads and take the A616 towards the M1 and Sheffield, (Turn right). Continue eventually coming to a large roundabout where the A61 and A616 cross. Take A61 towards Sheffield (Turn Right). Continue as below*.

*All: Continue on the A61 towards Sheffield for about 3 miles, eventually coming into Grenoside. Almost as soon as you do Turn right opposite the Norfolk Arms public house, (past the speed camera sign but just before the camera itself). Go up this hill and come into the village centre after about 400 yards. At the cross roads give way and turn left. The venue is about 200 yards on the left just after the church. The car park is on the far side as you approach.

Please note that the postcode on the agenda is slightly incorrect and should be CV35 8PD.

The Garden Party is basically a big Funday for Bernese. There are lots of fun and novelty classes and parades as well as working events such as carting, agility and obedience. It is an excellent chance for prospective owners to meet Bernese and their owners, ask questions and make contacts for puppies. Much more relaxed than a show and most people have much more time to talk. It is simply a pleasant family day out with your dog.

N.B. The price for camping/caravanning at this event has been omitted from the form sent out with the current mailing, it is Ł5 per unit per night. All other details are present and correct and your booking form should be sent in exactly as described with your remittance.

This is not, strictly speaking, a club organised event but we are happy to mention it here because it is a fund raiser for our Rescue activities.

After the successes of 2006 & 2007 we plan to run another Bernese Weekend in 2008 incorporating the Championship show on Saturday opening with a parade of carts and an extra Funday incorporating the usual Working Day PLUS a Companion Dog Show. As if that wasn't enough there will be a Social evening event on Saturday complete with quiz and auction of special BMD items and entertainment. Camping and Caravanning available for week-end.

Details of the whole week-end will be sent to all members and will be available from the club secretary Heather Head in due course.
