Irish Evening, Quiz and Auction 2006 Saturday 23rd September

The Irish night held on the Saturday evening after the Championship show was started off with a quiz organised by Amanda Hearne. After this the Hog Roast was served and after a long day at the show most people were ready for their food. Although the service was perhaps a little slow most people were satisfied and many went back for seconds and thirds.
The Irish band spent a long time limbering up to sort out the sound and perhaps the biggest let down for the week-end was the acoustics in the hall. Concrete floors and largely tin walls do not make ideal sound theatres but this did not spoil the evening for the close on a hundred people who spent the evening in good company and I think it is safe to say a good time was had by all. Learning from experience maybe we would lay the hall out differently next time but as the night wore on the people with stamina shone through and danced the night away shedding the calories put on by the roast.
Halfway through the night we held an auction of mainly overseas Bernese goods and this was another successful part of the week-end, some of the items proving incredibly popular. Again we would change the format slightly next time to keep it moving better but Lianne needed the exercise!
