The Swiss Party

The Swiss Party, held in aid of BMDC of GB Rescue on 19th July, was a huge success. It was very well supported and made over £1145 for rescue. 17 rescued dogs proudly came into the ring with their owners and each received a super goody bag, the contents of which were all sponsored. The oldest veteran present was just on 13 years old and a credit to her owner. The fun and games such as egg & spoon race and the 7 legged race were very entertaining. A colourful display of Bernese carters was thoroughly enjoyed and the fantastic lunch, most generously supplied by Hazel Spear, was the envy of those who had decided to bring their own picnic. Superb rosettes were donated by Toni Rose. A report will be in the next GB magazine but meanwhile, here are some photos of the day. A huge thank you to Roy and Sue Toms who worked so hard on the day and in advance preparation and especially to Hazel and Francis Spear who provided the venue, the lunches and their time, all in memory of their Bernese, BRUNO.

A few of the Bernese Carting Group attended the Swiss Party at Ware in Hertfordshire, in aid of the GB Bernese Rescue.

We would like to firstly say a special thank - you to Hazel and Francis Spears for their hospitality and to congratulate them for their services to the Bernese Rescue, for supplying the food and the lovely venue. Hazel and Francis are great supporters of Bernese Rescue, having had a Bernese Rescue called Bruno who we know holds lots of special memories for Hazel and who is no longer with us. This was a special day for Hazel to pay her respects for her time with Bruno and what a way to do it for the rescue.

We were blessed with the weather, only an odd short shower, and what a turnout of people for the event. The day was about having fun with your dog and catching up with some of the dogs who have been rehomed through the rescue. Tom and I who were particulary involved with Indy's rehoming, now called Minty, looked so well and had obviously settled in well to her new home and was adored with her new family. Prior to the opening of the show, Roy and Sue Toms had worked hard in setting up the rings and bunting and were also very busy on the day. We all took turns in manning the gate and car parking and in between times we were getting all out carts ready for a display of traditional Swiss costumes and Swiss carts, which seemed to go down really well.

The carters received a big thank you from the GB rescue, which thanked us all for our hard work and particulary the demo which had everyone
enthralled, and well done Roy for not dropping his ball!
