The Championship Show Week-end

Since 2006 the Championship show has been held as part of a big week-end of Bernese fun, frolics and celebration. We had successfully done this before in 1991, 1996 and 2000 and we had been looking for a suitable venue to go back to the week-end format for several years. For 5 years prior to 2006 the Champ Show was a single day event with no other activities attached.

The week-end basically has several main components,

-The Championship Show on the Saturday with judges elected by the membership in a free vote usually including at least one fresh overseas judge. Not forgetting the Limited Obedience show which is the only chance on the calendar for Bernese Obedience competitors to officially compete in an official breed specialised competition purely against other Bernese.

-The Saturday evening event an evening of dancing, food and merriment

-The very full Sunday which includes

a Companion show with classes for all breeds and Bernese,

the Working Day where Bernese can be seen tackling most of our working disciplines including Obedience, the working cart course and agility. As the end of the season event the annual carting medals are presented after the day's competition has been added into the mix.

the Funday where Bernese and their owners, lets face it, lose the plot a bit at times especially in the fancy dress, just look at some of the photos!! However a great time is had by all whether watching or taking part and the result is a great full day of Bernese fun where everyone relaxes after the more serious day before.
